Spend the Weekend with Top Film-makers in Hay-on-Wye.
Oscar winners and nominees are amongst the many film-makers preparing to descend on Hay-on-Wye for a weekend of master-classes, screenings, Q&A sessions and the blowing-up of trains at Hay on Film, the inaugural event of the Hay Film School.
As Hay-on-Wye launches into Festival mode, with the approach of the annual Literary Festival, this event for film-makers and buffs alike will give movie lovers the opportunity to meet up and learn from leading producers, directors, cinematographers and experts in the many crafts that contribute to the great films you see at the cinema and on television.
Hay on Film has been organised by local film-makers, cinematographer Alan Trow BSC and production expert Miguel Ferros, and will feature director and screen writer Bruce Robinson (Withnail & I, The Killing Fields, The Rum Diary); cinematographer Doug Milsome ASC BSC (Full Metal Jacket; The Shining) ; producer, Nigel Ashcroft (The Tree of Life) and Revel Guest, Executive producer, (War Horse).
There will also be workshops and demonstrations including – Bloody Marvellous! Make-up designer Claire Williams sharing the secrets of creating cinema blood and gore, and special effects man, Tom Harris, from Clifford, will create explosions , action effects and general mayhem!
The event on 25th -27th May will be hosted in the new Richard Booth’s Bookshop Cinema, part of the redevelopment of the famous bookshop which has been undertaken over the last three years by new owner, Elizabeth Haycox.
